You need to know these requirements when installing a glass rotameter
Dec 09, 2021
The glass rotor flowmeter is one of the flow meters. It has a very wide range of use, simple to use and easy to install. However, we must know these requirements for the suitability of the installation.
1. Before installing the flowmeter, carefully check whether the sharp edge (reading side) of the float is damaged. For flow meters with guide rods, remove the filling material to prevent the float from jumping during transportation, and check whether the float can slide freely on the guide rod. The packing tape is the main filling material, so it is very convenient to take out the filling material.
2. The glass rotor flowmeter should be installed vertically. The flowmeter should be installed in a vertical position with reliable support, and must not be subjected to any tension and pressure from the pipeline. For newly installed pipelines, the flowmeter should be installed after the pipeline is cleaned. The fluid to be measured enters and flows out of the lower end of the flowmeter. Tip: Do not hold any flowmeter!
3. The inlet end of the flow meter should have a straight pipe section, and its nominal diameter should be 5-10 times. It is recommended to install a bypass pipe next to the flowmeter.
4. The measured fluid should not be mixed with large particles of dust, otherwise the float will be stuck or the flowmeter path will be blocked. This kind of filter needs to be installed upstream of the flowmeter.
5. The measured fluid pressure must be stable. The unstable fluid pressure will cause the float to fluctuate and cannot be accurately measured. A buffer and a constant value device should be set upstream of the flowmeter.
6. If there is backflow in the pipeline, a one-way check valve should be installed after the downflow valve of the flowmeter to avoid damage to the flowmeter.
7. The liquid to be tested must not contain bubbles. If there are bubbles, an exhaust port must be provided upstream of the glass rotameter.
